Learning Objectives

  • Gain a greater understanding of your habit nature
  • Gain an awareness of how our own habits interfere with how we influence
  • Learn various styles of influence and how to use them interchangeably to be an effective influencer

Whether we recognize it or not, we are an embodiment of all the habits we have acquired throughout our lives. These habits create a lens of reality that is unique to us and it is through this lens that we further continue to reinforce those beliefs and experiences that we have grown to accept.

We are sometimes limited, however, when we accept what we believe to be truth as “the truth”.  When our belief of what is right is challenged, we sometimes find ourselves frustrated, wanting to push harder for people to understand.

As trainers, educators, content designers, or leaders, you are charged to influence your peers to follow certain workplace constructs. The ability to influence makes the difference between creating effective content or messaging and simply creating content or messaging that will be pushed out to deaf ears.

This session will walk you through understanding your habit nature, how these habits may interfere in the work you do, and how you can consciously use various styles of influence to ensure you are effectively influencing in the direction you desire.

About Patrick Vaca

Patrick Vaca has over 20 years of experience in people development and systems thinking. Having created several successful start-up programs to functioning in executive leadership positions to working as an internal consultant for large agencies, he has vast experience in leadership and corporate cultures in which the focus has been on goal attainment and developing personal mastery. His extensive body of leadership work (team performance, change management, effective communication and influence) and a clinical psychology background lends to his ability to help others gain insight into patterns of behavior not otherwise recognized. Patrick is a teacher. His passion is to help others recognize where they are, where they want to go, and what it will take to get them there. It is through this exploration of self, identifying patterns of unconscious behavior, and a deep connection to realizing personal potential that makes life’s journey fulfilling.
